GOFXL2008 Key Features
GOFXL2008 is a dynamic link library (DLL) that enables you to calculate natural gas volume flow rate and other related quantities (orifice plate sizing, pressure differential, etc.) right from a spreadsheet through the use of macros.GOFXL2008.DLL replaces the product GOFXL2002.DLL, which originally was released in 2002. The number of example spreadsheets provided with the GOFXL2008.DLL product package has been increased. Also, the example spreadsheets have been made easier to use as templates for user developed spreadsheets by the inclusion of three tabs which show definitions of all inputs, outputs and warnings. The GOFXL2008.DLL User’s Guide has more extensive user information than the previous version. Users accustomed to spreadsheet calculations using GOFXL2002.DLL can easily convert an existing spreadsheet to GOFXL2008.DLL simply by replacing the old macro with a new macro which is provided.
The following standards are supported by GOFXL2008.DLL: AGA Report No. 3, 1992, AGA Report No. 8, 1992 (second printing, 1994), GPA 2172, 1996, AGA Report No. 3, 1985, NX19, 1962 and AGA Report No. 8, 1985. GOFXL2008.DLL computations have been verified against the AGA Report No. 3 and AGA Report No. 8 standards and are within the limits of uncertainty required by those standards.
Note: GOFXL2008.DLL was developed explicitly for use with Excel XP and has been used successfully with Excel 2007. GOFXL2008 can be used with PCs using Windows versions Vista, XP, or 2000.
Why GOFXL2008 was developed
The suggestion to provide gas measurement calculations in a spreadsheet format was made in 1992 by John Stuart of Pacific Gas and Electric in a meeting with Ken Starling, SAI founder. John, who was very active in gas measurement professional groups, had volunteered to review an MS DOS program for orifice metering developed by SAI using the 1992 revisions of the AGA 8/API 14.2 properties standard and the API 14.3/AGA 3/ANSI 2530-92/GPA 8185-92 orifice metering standard. John felt that a spreadsheet format would be especially useful when a large number of calculations need to be performed and/or compared. The SAI product GOFXL2008, which performs orifice and linear meter calculations in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, was designed to meet the needs expressed by John Stuart and subsequently by other gas measurement experts.

1. GOFXL2008/SL software licensing and security utilizes Sentinel HASP SL, a product of SafeNet, Inc. which provides a SL (softlock) license installed on each individual licensed computer.2. GOFXL2008/HL software licensing and security utilizes Sentinel HASP HL, a product of SafeNet, Inc., which provides a HL (hardlock) license installed on a USB hardware key. Consequently, the GOFXL2008 software installed on any computer will run successfully when the HL USB key is present in one of the computer’s USB ports. Thus, the GOFXL2008 HL license is portable; the HL USB key can be passed from one computer to another as a matter of convenience and flexibility.
3. GOFXL2008/Server/IN software licensing and security utilizes Sentinel HASP SL, a product of SafeNet, Inc., which provides a SL (softlock) license with a licensed number of concurrent users (licensed seats) installed on a single licensed company server. Consequently, the GOFXL2008 software installed on any company networked computer will run successfully when a licensed seat is available on the licensed company server. Thus, a great amount of flexibility is provided, because the GOFXL2008 software can be installed on many more company networked computers than the licensed number of concurrent users. An additional feature of GOFXL2008/Server/IN software licensing is the fact that license seats can be detached from the licensed server and installed on individual company computers which may be unable to connect to the licensed server. Clearly GOFXL2008/Server/IN software licensing offers a licensing company a lot of flexibility.
4. GOFXL2008/Server/UN is identical to GOFXL2008/Server/IN except that it is intended for 101 to an unlimited number of license seats. The number of license seats may, however, be limited by a company’s server capacity.
